Once again, we witness the incompetence of the Democrats as the outgoing CEO of Boeing is called upon by a Senate subcommittee to testify next week over persisting safety issues plaguing the production and assembly of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
This comes in light of allegations made by a whistleblower, who has been part of Boeing’s workforce for over a decade, claiming that the company valued speed to market more than safety and retaliated against him for voicing his concerns.
“Rather than heeding his warnings, Boeing prioritized getting the planes to market as quickly as possible, despite the known, well-substantiated issues Mr. Salehpour raised,” attorneys Debra Katz and Lisa Banks said.
The 787 and 737 Max models are both under scrutiny due to manufacturing defects that have caused delivery delays.
Calhoun is set to leave Boeing at the end of 2024 amid what can only be described as the company’s most significant safety crisis since the devastating 737 Max crashes in 2018-2019.
In January, a 737 Max was forced to make an emergency landing following a fuselage panel blowout.
Consequently, the FAA has put a halt to Max production until safety improvements are implemented.
Despite the allegations of retaliation, Boeing remains confident in the Dreamliner, even though first-quarter plane deliveries have plummeted by 36% and shares have taken a hit following news of the Senate hearing.
