Former President Donald Trump, a well-known enthusiast of combat sports, humorously proposed the idea of a migrant fighting league as a potential rival to UFC over the weekend. This suggestion was made at Christian conservative gatherings in Washington, D.C., and a subsequent rally in Philadelphia, sparking a heated debate. As expected, media personalities such as CNN’s Jim Acosta were quick to condemn Trump’s remarks.

During his conversation with Dana White, the President of UFC, at the rally, Trump shared this idea. Acosta, on his CNN show, could barely contain his disdain and revulsion in response to Trump’s comments.

Trump said to Dana White: ‘I have an idea for you to make a lot of money. You’re going to go and start a new migrant fight league. Migrants, only migrants. And then at the end of the year, the champion migrant is going to fight your champion. And I hate to tell you Dana, I think the migrant might win. That’s how tough they are. They’re just getting comfortable now. They’re going to start hitting us very hard.’

In reaction to this clip, Acosta expressed his indignation by saying ‘This is ugly stuff’. He faced criticism from Chuck Rocha who said on the network: ‘I find it really disgusting… He just keeps throwing so much red bait to the base of his party.’”

The conversation quickly spiraled into comparisons between Trump’s rhetoric and actual violence related to immigration issues.

Acosta went on to reference family separations during Trump’s presidency and discussed ‘deportation camps’ in America, criticizing Trump’s suggestion as dehumanizing.

However, Conservative analyst Scott Jennings defended Trump, stating that his comments at these rallies were merely in jest, but they actually highlighted important issues related to violence.

Dana White, while at a UFC event in Saudi Arabia, confirmed Trump’s suggestion but clarified it was a joke. He stated, ‘I saw everybody going crazy online, but yeah he did say it.’”

Despite the negative reactions from media outlets like CNN, recent polls show that Trump is gaining significant support from Black and Hispanic voters for potential head-to-head matchups against Joe Biden in 2024.
