In a shocking display of negligence and incompetence, on January 6, 2021, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s motorcade brazenly breezed past an active bomb scene near the Democratic National Committee headquarters. This alarming revelation, brought to light by The New York Times, casts a damning spotlight on the questionable safety protocols that are supposedly in place for our top-tier government officials.

As seen in video footage from Capitol Police and surveillance cameras, as well as an unaired documentary filmed by Pelosi’s daughter, Pelosi’s motorcade was given the green light to pass through police barricades and travel within a security perimeter while the DNC bomb was still being defused. It’s a chilling testament to the ineptitude of those entrusted with ensuring the safety of our elected leaders.

Adding to this disturbing narrative, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’ motorcade also skirted dangerously close to the same undetected pipe bomb just hours earlier. Despite supposed security sweeps with bomb-detecting canines, the bomb remained undetected until after her departure. This glaring oversight raises serious doubts about the efficacy and competence of the security measures currently in place.

The Secret Service and White House conveniently avoided comment when CNN sought information about Harris’ brush with potential disaster. The fact that Harris was in possible danger for an extended period of time only deepens concerns about the lackluster safety protocols meant to protect our high-ranking government officials.

Pelosi’s reckless disregard for her own safety and that of other elected officials is a sobering indictment of her leadership capabilities. It’s deeply unsettling that she would knowingly come within striking distance of an undetected explosive device. The fact that Harris, the Vice President-elect, also experienced a similar close call earlier in the day only adds fuel to the fire.

Thankfully, the Republican-led House Administration Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee is stepping up to fill the investigative void left by the inept Democrat-led Jan. 6 House Select Committee. They are committed to seeking answers and demanding accountability for the gross security failures that put our government officials’ lives on the line. It’s high time we took decisive action to ensure such incidents never happen again. Our elected leaders’ safety and our government’s integrity should always be our paramount concern.
