Democrats are placing the future of their party and our nation in the hands of Vice President Kamala Harris, a politician whose confusing statements and verbal blunders do not inspire confidence in her ability to lead. Harris, who is just one heartbeat away from the presidency due to President Biden’s advanced age and declining cognitive abilities, has yet to prove she can articulate a clear and coherent vision for the future.

Consider the words of former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Kennedy’s powerful call to civic duty, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country,” still resonates today. Similarly, Roosevelt’s assertion, “Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” continues to inspire strength in times of adversity.

Contrast these with Harris’ own speeches. In 2022, during an address in Louisiana, she confusingly stated, “Talking about the significance of the passage of time. Right? The significance of the passage of time.” Listeners were left scratching their heads at this incoherent statement, which is just one example of many in her political career.

The Trump campaign recently released an 82-second advertisement spotlighting some of Harris’ most notable mishaps. The ad begins with her discussing the “passage of time” in relation to our nation’s future—a quote from a speech on high-speed internet access that makes little sense even in context.

Harris also attempted to explain community banks by saying, “So the importance of community banks is they are, as they are called, they’re in the community, led by members of the community. People who understand the capacity of the community, the needs of the community, the culture of the community.” This convoluted statement only underscores her lack of clarity and coherence.

Perhaps her most nonsensical statement was made in 2022 when she proclaimed, “Space is exciting!” This was meant to advocate for space exploration but instead highlighted her struggle to articulate thoughts effectively.

It’s not just her verbal mishaps that are alarming—it’s also her proximity to the presidency, especially given Biden’s health concerns. Harris was chosen as his running mate in 2020 and is expected to be on the ticket again in 2024 as a safeguard against Biden’s potential health issues. But as the Trump campaign’s 82-second ad points out, Harris’ inability to articulate clear messages raises serious doubts about her leadership abilities.

While occasional verbal mishaps shouldn’t be the sole basis for judging a political candidate, mental acuity becomes a valid concern when that candidate is positioned as a back-up for an elderly and frail president. Harris has been described as someone who can “imagine what can be and be unburdened by what has been.” While this may work for meditation, it’s not reassuring for a leader facing complex issues.

The Trump campaign’s ad serves as a stark reminder of why Harris is just as disliked as Biden. It’s not about political affiliation—it’s about competence. Democrats who are banking on her to save their party have cause for concern.

This isn’t about attacking Harris personally or dismissing her accomplishments as a black and female politician. But age and identity shouldn’t be the only factors in leadership. She simply isn’t cut out to lead.

Democrats can’t afford to elect a president with cognitive issues and hope their running mate will save the day. The American people deserve a leader who can articulate a clear vision for the future, and Harris isn’t that leader. It’s time to prioritize competence over identity politics and choose a leader who can effectively guide our nation through upcoming challenges.
