Let’s cut to the chase. Vice President Kamala Harris’ stance on abortion has ignited a wildfire of controversy, especially among black male voters. This was glaringly evident during a recent CNN panel discussion where these men locked horns over her audacious opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022.

Omar, one of the panelists, backed Harris’ stance, arguing that women should have absolute control over their bodies. He stated, “It’s the woman, the body. So she should be able to dictate her terms of her body.” This is a common refrain among those who are blindly supportive of Harris’ pro-abortion stance.

However, Charles Barthelemy, another panelist, boldly disagreed with this view and lambasted Harris for her blatant disregard for life. He argued that “the lord made life” and that it should be revered above all else. His perspective mirrors that of many pro-life activists who believe that abortion equates to taking a life.

Anthony Wilson, the third panelist, raised an interesting point about men not having the same physical experiences as women and therefore shouldn’t weigh in on the matter. He stated, “There’s so much that we don’t know as men that we don’t have the privilege to opine on. Like we will never have a period…so to even fix our mouths to comment on how. I don’t care what God said, women have the right to govern their bodies.” His argument underscores the importance of acknowledging women’s unique experiences in this debate but fails to address the fundamental issue of protecting life.

Adding fuel to the fire is Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Democrat Gov. Tim Walz, who’s been aggressively promoting more access to abortion. In a shocking move, just one day after the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, Walz issued an executive order declaring Minnesota a “safe haven” for those seeking abortion. This order shields individuals from states that ban abortion from potential extradition for receiving the procedure in Minnesota.

The CNN panel laid bare the starkly contrasting views on Harris’ pro-abortion stance among black male voters. While some naively support her position and advocate for a woman’s so-called right to choose, others stand firm in their moral and religious beliefs about the sanctity of life. It’s disturbing to note that Walz also champions increased access to abortion, underscoring the deep-seated political and ideological chasm over this contentious issue in the United States.

As we inch closer to the 2024 presidential election, it’s evident that Harris’ pro-abortion stance will continue to spark heated debates and divide public opinion. The onus is on voters to scrutinize their beliefs and values when selecting a candidate who aligns with their views on contentious issues like abortion.
