There have been countless discussions and debates about Donald Trump’s challenges, many of which have been trials. I have contributed to this discourse, sharing my thoughts on platforms such as American Greatness and others.

Many narratives from the left side of the political spectrum seem to relish in Trump’s predicaments. They appear to be celebrating with statements like, “Finally! The Bad Orange Man is Getting His Just Desserts and Might Even go to Jail.  Praise be!”

However, an increasing amount of commentary surrounding this issue seems filled with concern and even outright alarm. Former Attorney General William Barr, who isn’t exactly a fan of Trump, recently expressed his support for him over Joe Biden, whom he views as a far worse alternative.

As time passes, Barr’s endorsement will be seen as a pivotal moment in the ongoing saga of Trump. If someone like Barr who has been critical of Trump can stand behind him, it indicates a major shift in political alignments.

It should be noted that this change isn’t primarily due to an evaluation of Trump versus Biden’s merits. Instead, it’s more about the backlash against the misuse of power by the Department of Justice under Biden’s administration. While Trump has been targeted most prominently, any opposition to this regime could potentially be next.

Military personnel often use the term “Shock and Awe” to describe a strategy that involves using overwhelming displays of force to paralyze the enemy’s perception of the battlefield and destroy their will to fight. This seems like an apt description of what Biden’s administration is attempting to do to Trump.

Thanks to the insightful reporting by Julie Kelly, Mike Davis, and others, we’ve learned about the extensive coordination between the Biden White House and various prosecutors, attorneys general, FBI agents, and other government officials in a strategic effort to indict, intimidate, and neutralize Trump politically.

Andrew McCarthy, another commentator who isn’t particularly fond of Trump, has also expressed his dismay at the corruption of justice in the scramble to “Get Trump.” In a recent essay, he outlines some ways in which Biden has been colluding with (or even directing) this legal assault against Trump.

Regarding District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s so-called “hush money” trial in New York (which is really more of a “silence Trump” trial), McCarthy points out that Bragg chose Matthew Colangelo as his lead prosecutor. Colangelo is one of the top lawyers in Biden’s Justice Department and specializes in anti-Trump enforcement.

Furthermore, it’s highly unusual for a lawyer occupying such a high federal position to leave for a county DA’s office for a line-prosecutor role. However, it seems like a smooth transition for Colangelo who had previously worked at the New York attorney general’s office where he specialized in lawsuits against Trump and his organization.

I strongly recommend reading McCarthy’s entire essay as well as Kenin M. Spivak’s piece titled “America in the Shadow of Lawfare,” which appears in The American Mind. Spivak details the numerous instances where state power has been abused to bring down Trump.

Despite these cases becoming increasingly familiar, it seems that we’ve become complacent rather than contemptuous. Consider this partial list of Spivak’s inventory of egregious legal abuse:

“Beyond E. Jean Carroll’s successful defamation cases funded by billionaire Reid Hoffman and failed efforts in 36 states to remove Trump from the ballot for allegedly engaging in insurrection, Trump is a defendant in five active criminal or civil actions, and an unindicted co-conspirator in two additional criminal cases. All these cases were brought by partisan progressive Democrat prosecutors seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and more than 100 years of prison time.”

Also consider these two points:

  1. “The timing of these cases was coordinated to inflict maximum inconvenience and cost on Trump, and to make it impossible for him to campaign actively.”
  2. “State and federal prosecutors met in the White House to refine their cases and for purposes that have never been disclosed.”

The timing was coordinated, and state and federal prosecutors met in the White House to refine their cases, which should alarm everyone. This isn’t happening in a far-off country like Bolivia or Venezuela. It’s happening right here, in the United States of America.

The ruling party colludes with legal enforcement agencies and the media to prevent the main opposition candidate from campaigning and make it impossible for people to vote for him. They’re also actively trying to bankrupt him.

As Spivak rightly points out, “The United States is now seeking to financially destroy and incarcerate a former president who is also the leading opposition candidate for that office. This is what happens in Third World countries, which routinely confiscate assets of and imprison the opposition. Regardless of whether Trump prevails in his trials, America has crossed a line from its republican past into something very ugly.”

This serves as a warning: don’t say you weren’t forewarned about this unprecedented attack on our democracy.
