An inspiring and powerful message is making waves across the internet, originating from an unexpected source – a mother’s obituary in Virginia. Valerie Ann Smith, who passed away peacefully at her home on June 20, 2024, at the age of 39, has left behind an impactful message that resonates with many.
Surrounded by her loving husband and children during her final moments, Valerie fought a brave battle against Renal Medullary Carcinoma. She spent her last four years living in an old farmhouse in Meadows of Dan with her devoted husband, Denny Kelvin Smith, Jr., and their youngest children Kijah Rothrock, Denny Kelvin Smith III, and Thomas Finley Smith. Her eldest daughter Acacia Roberts had already left the nest and resides in East Bend, NC.
Valerie’s heartfelt words are a testament to her strength and spirit:
“After months of fighting, I have finally won my battle against Renal Medullary Carcinoma and now sit at the feet of Jesus! I have been blessed to live my final 4 years in an old farmhouse in Meadows of Dan with my best friend and devoted husband, Denny Kelvin Smith, Jr, and our youngest children…
Valerie cherished her time in Meadows of Dan, a place she called home, and found solace in the Grace Baptist Church in Stuart, VA. She also emphasized the importance of valuing relationships, letting go of grudges, and spending quality time with family.
“Death at 39 years of age was never in my 5 or 10 year plan, or even my 15 or 20 year plan… This whole ordeal has taken so much from my family, but it has taught me some very valuable insights…
She urged everyone to prioritize their children, invest in friendships, and find a church that feels like home. Her words serve as a humbling reminder of the brevity of life and the importance of love and faith.
“Most of all, I encourage you, if you haven’t already, find a church home… You’ll feel right at home.”
Valerie’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Grace Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mark Elkins officiating. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, VA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
