Watch: Media Covers Up Dem Mayor’s Negligence During Wildfires

The liberal media’s deceptive tactics continue as MSNBC’s Morning Joe airs a deceptive edit of Democrat LA Mayor Karen Bass stonewalling a reporter on the ongoing fires in Los Angeles.

Despite the National Weather Service’s warnings of “critical fire conditions” in Los Angeles, Bass decided to fly off to Ghana for the inauguration of Ghanian President John Dramani Mahama. Upon her return on Wednesday, a Sky News reporter at the airport repeatedly pressed Bass on whether she owed an apology to the residents of LA for her absence. Bass remained silent, refusing to answer any questions for a full 90 seconds on camera.

However, viewers of Morning Joe were not shown the full extent of Bass’s stonewalling. Instead, the show only aired a short clip of the reporter’s initial question and immediately cut to a clip of Bass claiming she was directing all resources to the fire. This deceptive editing only serves to protect a fellow Democrat, as it is highly unlikely the show would have treated a Republican in a similar situation with such leniency.

This is just the latest example of the liberal media’s partisan and journalistic malpractice. Had this been a Republican mayor, it’s fair to assume that the full 90 seconds of stonewalling would have been played repeatedly on the show. But the liberal media continues to circle the wagons around their fellow Democrats, protecting them from any negative coverage.

Ironically, Politico notes that this trip to Ghana may have threatened Bass’s “remarkably durable honeymoon” with the media. Yet, with a liberal hometown press, Bass can easily navigate any negative coverage and come out unscathed.

It’s time for the liberal media to stop playing favorites and start holding all politicians accountable, regardless of party affiliation. One can only imagine the outrage and criticism if this had been a Republican mayor in the same situation. The media should be providing fair and balanced coverage, not protecting their preferred politicians.
