During a heated exchange with an AP reporter, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fiercely denied that Donald Trump “garbage.” The controversy arose after Biden appeared to criticize a joke made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a rally, where he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” While Jean-Pierre claimed that Biden was only denouncing “hateful rhetoric,” the press secretary’s defense of the president only served to highlight the Democrats’ pattern of demonizing Trump and his supporters.
Jean-Pierre attempted to clarify Biden’s allegedly misunderstood statement, saying, “‘I refer to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage, which is the only word I can think of to describe it.’ His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, that’s all I meant to say.” However, this justification falls flat when looking at the context in which these comments were made.
The fact that Biden made this statement while Vice President Kamala Harris was giving her closing argument to the nation at the National Mall only emphasizes the Democrats’ blatant disrespect and slander of Trump and his supporters.
The press secretary also claimed that Biden does not view Trump supporters as “garbage.” However, the reality is that the Democrats, including Biden and Harris, have a long history of insulting and attacking Trump and his supporters.
Just a few weeks ago, Jean-Pierre herself characterized Trump as a “fascist” during a press briefing, in response to comments made by Trump’s former chief of staff. This inflammatory language only serves to further divide the nation and incite hatred towards the former president and his supporters.
The comparisons of Trump to Hitler and accusations of him being a fascist are not new for the Democrat party. In 2016, Hillary Clinton famously referred to half of Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables,” labeling them as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic [and] Islamophobic.”
This kind of rhetoric is not only insulting and dehumanizing, but it also shows the Democrats’ blatant disregard for the millions of Americans who support Trump and his policies.
It is clear that the Democrats, including Biden and Harris, have a long history of attacking and belittling Trump and his supporters. These recent comments only serve to further highlight the deep-rooted hatred and prejudice that the left has towards anyone who disagrees with their beliefs.
The American people deserve a president who will unite the country, not one who continues to divide and disparage a large portion of the population. President Trump may not have been a perfect leader, but he never resorted to insulting or demonizing his opponents.
