Nanette Barragán’s CNN interview, where she absurdly claimed that the violent riots sweeping Southern California were nothing more than “peaceful protests.” Even as footage of burning cars and anarchic destruction played beside her, Barragán doubled down on the false narrative that President Donald Trump is unfairly targeting demonstrators. The reality? Far-left agitators have turned Los Angeles into a warzone, attacking law enforcement, torching vehicles, and disrupting ICE operations—yet CNN and its Democratic allies insist on whitewashing the chaos.

During her appearance on State of the Union, Barragán told anchor Dana Bash, “The president is sending the National Guard because he doesn’t like the scenes… He doesn’t like the scenes of people peacefully protesting.” The irony was impossible to ignore—while she spoke those words, CNN aired footage of a car engulfed in flames, proving just how detached from reality these left-wing politicians truly are. Barragán then attempted to distance herself from the violence, stating, “Those are not the people that are coming out to protest immigration… We agree that if you’re being violent, you should be arrested. You should be prosecuted. There is no disagreement on that.” Yet her initial framing of the riots as “peaceful” exposes the left’s true agenda: downplaying destruction while demonizing those who seek to restore order.

President Trump, recognizing the failure of local leaders like Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom, took decisive action by federalizing 2,000 National Guard troops to quell the riots. While Democrats and their media allies wring their hands over “escalation,” Trump understands that lawlessness cannot be tolerated. Barragán’s post-interview tweet only reinforced her delusion: “Sending 2,000 Natl Guard troops into our communities is not about safety—it’s about escalation.” But the American people know better—when weak leadership allows cities to burn, strong leadership steps in.
