Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene did not hold back when questioning former Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at a hearing before House Oversight Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. She slammed him for his handling of nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic and for allegedly having a Chinese spy working in his administration.
Greene brought up the recent arrest of a former Democratic aide, Linda Sun, who has been accused of acting on behalf of the Chinese government while working for Cuomo. She questioned whether Cuomo was aware of Sun’s actions or was simply “the dumbest tool of the Chinese government.”
But Greene didn’t stop there. She also brought up the numerous sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo, accusing the Democrat DOJ of helping him out of these claims. “I’d like to say this, and I’ll ask you – are you either the dumbest tool of the Chinese government, or did you know for a fact that you were being used by the Chinese spy that was working for you?” Greene said.
In response, Cuomo tried to deflect the question by stating that Sun was just a junior member of his team and he wouldn’t even recognize her if she was in the room. However, he did acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and suggested that the federal government and the state government should work together to handle these issues.
But Greene was not satisfied with his answer. She continued to push Cuomo, stating that he had insulted many people who lost loved ones due to his March 25 directive, which required nursing homes to accept COVID-19 positive patients. This directive has been widely criticized for contributing to the high death toll among elderly residents in New York nursing homes.
Furthermore, Green also pointed out that while Cuomo was thanking China, Sun was working for him as a Chinese spy. This begs the question of whether Cuomo was aware of her actions and possibly colluding with the Chinese government.
Cuomo’s response raises even more concerns as he seems to downplay the seriousness of having a Chinese spy in his administration and instead shifts the responsibility to the federal government. He also fails to acknowledge his own actions and the harm they have caused.
In light of these revelations, it is clear that Cuomo’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic and possible involvement with a Chinese spy is a threat to national security and the safety of American citizens.
It is imperative that the federal government conducts a thorough investigation and takes appropriate action. New York residents deserve answers and justice for the loss of their loved ones. Cuomo’s actions must not go unpunished.
