On The View this week, co-host Whoopi Goldberg sparked outrage by claiming that black and gay Americans suffer the “same” abuses as women and LGBTQ individuals in Iran—a shocking and blatantly false comparison that exposes the left’s desperation to paint America as a tyrannical regime. While co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin rightly condemned Iran’s brutal human rights record—where gay people are thrown off buildings and women are flogged for not wearing hijabs—Goldberg doubled down, insisting that America’s past sins make it “the same” as the Islamic Republic today.
“The Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings. They don’t adhere to basic human rights,” Griffin said, to which Goldberg responded: “Well here’s the thing. Let’s not do that because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I’m sorry. [Americans] used to just keep hanging black people.” When Griffin pushed back, Goldberg snapped, “Oh wait, wait, wait. That’s not what you mean to say, it is the same.”
But it’s not the same. In 2025 America, women walk freely without head coverings, gay couples marry openly, and black citizens hold positions of power—none of which is possible in Iran. Griffin fired back: “The year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if I stepped foot wearing this outfit in Tehran right now. I can’t have my hair showing, I can’t wear a skirt, I can’t have my arms out.” Yet Goldberg, ever the apologist for leftist narratives, refused to concede, blurting, “Murdering someone for their difference is not good whoever does it.”
This isn’t just ignorance—it’s dangerous. Iran’s regime executes gay people, stones women for adultery, and jails activists without trial. Meanwhile, under President Trump’s leadership, America has championed religious freedom, economic opportunity for minorities, and tough sanctions against Iran to pressure its barbaric regime. The liberal media, however, would rather amplify Goldberg’s inflammatory rhetoric than acknowledge Trump’s successes in standing against global oppression.
